My new motto for taxi cab riding....

Well.......we have been toodling around Prague on our last day trying to soak up all the beauty it has to offer......this is our neighborhood......

THEN......we took the most hell-acious taxi ride I have ever had....we had to get a taxi to take us back to the airport....and I'm telling you I have a new motto..... "Just enjoy the scenery along the way..." because really you have no control over whether or not you are going to crash and die....so you might as well enjoy the scenery.....because really.....I don't want to see it coming....

First our driver was passing trams...yes, passing trams...with oncoming traffic.....then he was telling us about something on YouTube...that we had to check out...then said, "well here...let me show you"....He puts his ipad on his dash....pulls up youtube and proceeds to watch a video (while weaving in and out of traffic) the entire rest of the way....many many near misses....once we almost hit an elderly gentleman stepping off of a curb....I know this doesn't sound overly stressful.....but I'm telling you...I threw up a little bit in my mouth when I got out......but we made it.......hence...my new motto for taxi riding.....Just enjoy the scenery....

Let's Find a Beautiful Place to Get Lost....

It's not too hard to find a place in this beautiful city in which to get lost.....Doesn't this cathedral look like the one at Disney? Or actually the other way around.... 

We were lost in here for HOURS!!! lol.....Our favorite Pub! snuggled back into the end of a courtyard that we just stumbled upon...met some great people....Czech is famous for its beer.....you can even drink out on the streets....imagine that...at its like $1.50 a pint...cheaper than water they claim....we met two brothers from Italy...they were hiding from their parent in a bar....and these are our Swedish friends we just met. Bob is saying goodbye to them...they were some cool kids as well....going back tonight for a cocktail before dinner...

Headed to London in the morning...must say goodbye to another oh-so-beautiful city....defnitely rates up there with my favorite cities of all times...I would definitely recommend a two or three day stop over here on your European trip...you won't be sorry.....Did you see Lynn's blog? She met Rick Steves (the travel guy on TV) at the Amsterdam Cetral Station...on their way to Paris on Tuesday....we were at the central station that morning as well...but we weren't so lucky...but we are going to be on the lookout for famous people in London...with the Olympics going on...bet there are lots there...

Absynthe in Prague

Well...we had a new experience today...we tried Absynthe.....there were Absynthe shops everywhere...so we had to try it....Absynthe is an authentic Czech drink. Much like moonshine to me with a twist.....I'm not sure if you can tell in our picture or not...but the spoon of sugar is on fire on top of the glass...they pour a shot of Absynthe in the glass..and drizzle a little on the corner of the sugar cubes on the spoon....then they light the sugar cube and burn the sugar on the spoon in order to caramelize it..which then drips down through the spoon ...the spoon has holes and slits in it.. they light the drink on fire for another couple minutes ....seriously this process took about ten minutes and he broke 2 glasses in the process ... He said happens all the time....about half break he says!!!! Wow! Lol...this process is supposed to make it smoother....there is something in the absynthe that is so strong it is illegal in most countries including the U.S....like I said moonshine with a twist....well the Absynthe in the U.S. is only allowed to have 10% of the ingredient (which I cant remember the name of) that makes this so potent....but we were drinking the Absynthe that was 70% of this stuff...can't remember the name of it now...probably a reason for that I'll do a little research and get back to you... Lol.......but it was definitely an experience.....thought I'd share...the last two pics is what the end product looks like... the dude also gave us a shot of Swiss Absynthe which was much smoother to me it was distilled where the other isnt...not too exciting...just interesting....the last two pics is what the end result looks like after stirring caramelized sugar into it

Well I'm here to say we did not have any hallucinations but Bob got a little droopy and took a power nap back at the room!
We are back out and about now for our last night night here....we will most definitely return!!

Lisa...that's a bad habit....

I'm not sure what Lisa's doing in Eruope ....but It must have been that it was my sister's birthday....and I was thinking about her a lot this week...I'm not exactly sure how.....but I must have summoned her somehow...

Is this not a spitting image of Lisa? You may not be able to tell in the picture..but it is 'dead on'..I was acting like I was taking a picture of something else...and couldn't get a straight-on shot...so this was as good as I could get...but you can definitely see it right?......

Prague is my second favorite city....

Wanted to post some pics of Prague so you can see what a romantic city this is!
Americans have only been allowed to travel here since maybe the 90's. Or something like that ....need to take a tour I guess and learn some history! Lololol.... It has been under Russian control prior to that for like 40 years until the the Velvet Revolution in the early 90's. Who knew all this beauty was waiting to be discovered!!!!

We have arrived in Prague. A few hours ago actually and we have already scored!
Met the artist of the jewelry. Can u believe we found it? And still on the Charles Bridge. Going to meet him and his son in the morning. His son speaks better English.
I AM SO EXCITED! I could barely concentrate on the task at hand when talking to him! I was about to jump out of my skin with the excitement I was trying to contain within.
So as we were talking to him he says 'in his broken English' "ah yes, I got ur email"! And I'm thinking 'are you shitting me?' you couldn't have responded? But he says he doesn't speak good English do didn't want to respond. Oh okay! Lol! I guess I'll let that slide!!!! Lol it's just that... We just traveled across the world to talk to you!!! Could've saved a couple of dollars! Lol But we would've missed the adventure if he had responded!
We just now walked off the bridge and I told piddle, I've got to post this!!!!! I've got to tell someone!!! So I'm telling you!!!
Can't wait for u ladies to see this jewelry! Wish I could bring all of it home with me.

So now we are sitting in a square listening to music and every era is represented in their architecture. The renaissance, golden age, Baroque, blah blah blah.... So there's our culture for the day. Will get a picture from the Charles Bridge tomorrow and posts more pics!!!!

Well.....we'll be pulling up and moving on ...in the a.m......on our way to Prague....Can't wait....this is the place where I found the cool jewelry a few years ago.....going back to try to find it....to import.......



 
Had a good time with Lynn and Chris....they leave for Paris in the am....then we'll see them again in England this weekend....gonna see what we can get into in London...hopefully will find some cool Olympic events to go to....
Welp...will post some pics of Prague...can't wait....you would love Prague....I don't think I posted pics when we were there in 09...so it will be a special treat for you...lol
